Is Tanzania a developed country? Or is it still developing?
Tanzania is definitely a developing country because of their poverty level and corruption. Currently, in the United States of America (USA), 90 percent of all Americans are able to get enough food to have an active and healthy life. However, in Tanzania, almost 30 percent of the people are hungry, living under the food poverty line. Additionally, in the USA, all the elections are fair, for there is no corruption. Despite that, Tanzania is having difficulties finding a new president for some candidates are bribing voters. Therefore, Tanzania is a developing country because of poverty and corruption.
Tanzania is a developing country because of poverty. Living to less than an American dollar, people are starving and miserable where over half of the population is living under the poverty line and thirty-three percent is living under abject, or extremely bad, poverty. Over twenty percent is living under the food poverty line and ninety percent of Tanzanian's shelter in poor rural areas. These high percentages show Tanzania people are unable to live happily because they would always be wondering when their next meal will come, or where they will sleep the next night. This is causing Tanzania's growth to slow down. With all the poor people, Tanzania's income levels are and continue to be one of the lowest in Africa. Poverty is an example of why Tanzania is still developing because all the poor Tanzanian's can't buy necessities to support their families. They are hungry and upset since their condition is horrible.
Tanzania is also a developing country because of corruption. With elections, people have been cheating and arguing with other candidates in different levels of hierarchies because of the want of winning. They are continuously bribing voters to vote for a specific candidate, particularly themselves. For example, President Jakaya Kikwete has been associating with money to buy himself votes to continue as the president of Tanzania. Additionally, many candidates argue over who was cheating because of the amount of corruption and bribing voters going on. For example, Frederick Sumaye was a candidate for the NEC seat. He complained that his fellow competition was bribing their voters, which resulted in his loss in the ruling party because it doesn't show fairness within the voting and good sportsmanship with who should win. However, with the continuous unfair voting system, it is likely to lead to having the worst president leading the country in the wrong way. Therefore, corruption is an example why Tanzania is still developing because with the unfair votes, it can lead to a bad president leading the country because corruption is being a huge factor to who gets what and when. They are also disorganized with all the unfairness with the votes.
Tanzania is a clearly developing country but it is possible to be seen the other way. This is because of Tanzania's education system. There education system is one of the highest in Africa with an adult literacy rate of 68%. However, even though schooling was originally created from the Germans, Nyerere created some schools based on poverty level and ethnic group, causing some people to not have the same deserved education as others. Therefore, Tanzania is a developing country because of poverty and corruption.
